We are excited to highlight another recent Delia Sessions artist – Henna Haj Hasan, a talented singer from Palestine. According to Henna, there is a growing demand for female performers in female-only spaces, which led her to folklore explorations and to create a contemporary song that appeals to her audience.
While Henna is a fan of classical music, she understands the importance of addressing the present moment and reflecting it in her music. She aspires to develop a song that people would enjoy listening to, which would also allow her to showcase her creativity and versatility.
“Of course, I love classical music, but I always think What’s next? How do we reflect and address the present moment? So, I would like to develop a contemporary song out of this mixture One that people would enjoy listening to”. Henna’s inspiration for music comes from within, as she finds herself singing even in the lowest moments. She believes that music is a powerful tool for expression, and staying away from it affects her even while teaching. For her, music is not just a hobby or a profession, but a way of life.
As a Palestinian singer, Henna is proud of her heritage and uses her music to reflect her identity and culture. She represents the emerging voice of women who are making their mark in the music industry and challenging traditional norms. Her passion, talent, and dedication to her craft make her an inspiration to aspiring artists worldwide.
The way that you get inspired from music
“What inspired me to keep singing is that in the lowest moments I find myself singing What I am saying might sound Cliché, but it [music] is a way of expression If I stay away from music as a tool of expression for a bit Even when I am teaching, it really affects me”.
Delia Sessions celebrates Henna Haj Hasan and her new project, which offers a fresh and exciting approach to women’s henna parties. Her unique blend of folklore and contemporary music has the potential to captivate audiences worldwide and pave the way for more female performers in traditionally male-dominated spaces. Henna’s story is a testament to the power of music and the endless possibilities it offers to those who pursue it with passion and dedication.
