Located in Bukavu, on the shores of Lake Kivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Delia-Ndaro Art Culture Center is a collaborative effort between the Delia Arts Foundation and local heroes from Ndaro Culture. This center provides a dedicated space for the arts in a region long affected by war and neo-colonial exploitation. Since its opening, it has become a cornerstone for artistic development, cultural preservation, and social cohesion, offering a safe space for musicians, artists, and the broader community to connect, learn, and create.
The Delia-Ndaro Center offers diverse programs across seven departments, including music, poetry, theater, and photography. Musicians benefit from fully equipped rehearsal and recording spaces, workshops on sound engineering and music business, and opportunities for international exposure. Additionally, the center supports traditional and contemporary art forms, hosting cultural events that showcase Congolese talent and promote peace-building. Through projects like art therapy for vulnerable children and programs aimed at former child soldiers, the center plays a crucial role in helping the community heal from the scars of conflict.
With the support of the Delia Arts Foundation and partners like Music Fund, the center has become a beacon for cultural preservation and personal growth. Its impact extends beyond Bukavu, offering local artists a platform to share their stories and talents. The Delia-Ndaro Center continues to grow, with plans to expand its reach, provide further training, and elevate the voices of Bukavu’s artists on the global stage. This center embodies the belief that art can drive social transformation and foster resilience in even the most challenging environments.
